Better late than really really late. *cosplay photos*
Congratulations Garbo. You decided to write a post 4 months later. Good job.
I’m soooo rubbish at this.
Anyway, what did I do in my last few weeks in Australia …..
Ok - so the last thing I talked about was my 2nd week of work, a Korean restaurant + KTV birthday party and an Anime cosplay I was going to.
Right; work finished by week 3. I mean, it was just a temporary summer job working on the Australian census and it got really repetitive answering phones, but the experience and the money was really worth it. I earned quite a lot of money (way more than if I had worked 3 weeks in the UK) and it looks great on my CV/resume now as I’m applying for jobs and schemes in my final year.
The Manifest anime cosplay was cool! It was my first time ever cosplaying and the first time I’ve ever been to an anime convention!
I dressed up as a random ANBU ninja and Ralph went as Minato the 4th Hokage from Naruto. We looked pretty good but some other people there looked AMAZING.
First photo of the day with my LOVE - Kakashi
Homegirl Chun Li
AMAZING Pain from Naruto
1000 years of PAIN
Cute TenTen
These girls were my FAVOURITE of the whole weekend. Android 17 & 18.
If I was holding a competition, these girls would be the winners because of accuracy and they just LOOK LIKE THE CHARACTERS, SO MUCH.
Android 18 even had the R R (Red Ribbon) logo on the back of her jacket.
Little Rei Ayanami!
And my boyfriend with the famous Hardgay from Japan
Overall, an interesting experience but I thought it got kinda boring because all there was to do in the end was buy stuff …..
But I LOVED the atmosphere and everybody was so nice and was such a good sport when it came to taking photos :)
Ahhh, this post is gonna be wayyy too long; I can’t actually summarise everything briefly so how about I leave it as this for now so I can have an excuse to write a couple more posts in this blog later :)
Yay!!!
Feel free to comment! ~
Summary …….. soon.
Yeah I’m sorry guys :( Towards my last couple of weeks in Australia I didn’t blog …..
I guess I must’ve wanted to make the most of my remaining days there?
Anyway, it seems kinda silly to try and blog about it now months later but I think when I find a spare moment I will finish up with a little summary blog and post up some nice photos from the cosplay and beach trip I went on =D
I’m sure I will find use for this blog again in the future anyway; I’m gonna end up in Australia sooner or later =P
Anonymous asked: Were you named after Greta Garbo?
No; just a coincidence lol :D
Anonymous asked: hey garbo, ur doing this work and travel program under an agency, right? is it possible if i do it without the agency?
Ahh!! I’m so sorry I didn’t know I had messages in my inbox! Hope it’s not too late to answer.
Yes it possible. You don’t need the agency at all. In Australia, you just need a work and holiday visa and a tax file number. BUNAC/Work n Holiday, the agency I was with basically sorted all that out for me; plus a bank account, free sim card …
Oops.
Haven’t posted in a while! I hardly even go on Facebook or YouTube now!
Anyway, 2nd week of work and it’s all going really well. I mean, waking up really early in the cold, cold morning sucks but why bother complaining right? … Every person with a job is probably on the same boat.
I took exactly 99 calls at work today lol - it gets repetitive but taking calls about the census is such an easy job and the money is pretty decent too.
Apart from work lately … umm, went to Annie’s crazy birthday party on Saturday. Started off with basically ordering TOO MUCH FOOD at a Korean restaurant and then moved on to karaoke >=D
Asians + Karaoke = …. I’m sure you get the picture ^_^ Hehehe.
Having a lovely time here. Really starting to feel like as I just live here now - as in, I don’t feel like I’m on holiday - I just feel like a local =P
Ooo! My Naruto ANBU cosplay costume came in the mail today. I need to adjust it because it’s too big but I can’t wait to go to my first anime convention at the end of the month =DDD

Pretty sweet! Hope I can manage to look as badass as the girl XD
Finally got a job.
So after 5 interviews, about a million job applications and 1 job that I’ve already quit, I finally found THE job.
It’s a 2 week temp job and it starts August 1st. Of course I would’ve wanted something longer but it’s better than nothing … and seriously, Aussies get paid SO much. They pay like, over double our minimum wage in the UK. I will have earned back every penny I spent on the plane tickets, working visa, the agency AND more in the 2 weeks alone.
The job is an inbound call centre for the 2011 Census project - so YAY, people call into US.
I remember my interview a few weeks ago went SO well - it was all professional and official, my interviewer was so lovely and from London and he said he was going to speak very highly of me =DDDDD
You know when you just get a good feeling about something? This was it. Straight after this interview, I didn’t bother looking or applying for any other jobs.
Can’t wait to start earning some monies =D
In the mean time, I’ve just been chilling out =)
Here’s a photo of the doggies btw - Satch and Rachet.
Satch is fat and Rachet is hyper.
Day 28?
I’ve realised that I’ve hardly taken any photos during this trip. Poop.
But it’s because I’m not really doing touristy stuff =/
Ralph and I (and Rae for the second time!) saw the Harry Potter movie yesterday.
I never read the books but I do enjoy the movies. It’s too bad that I always forget what happened in the last one by the time the next one comes out.
At least this was the last one =P
I also had an interview yesterday for a really good company and it looks really hopeful! My interviewer was SO nice, it was all professional, official and I have a good feeling about it!
Ralph had his hazards test and passed. Woop.
OOO OOO. Yesterday, after the movie, we were just going around the city and they were giving away TUBS of Ben and Jerrys at the train station. We couldn’t be bothered to queue up but we then bumped into Chris and Hannah in Starbucks and they got a box of it so we just mooched XD
After that we went to Galactic Circus, the arcade in Crown and we won 1700+ tickets from one of those wheel of fortune kinda games! Saving it all up to win something awesome =D
Not doing much today apart from running errands later. At the moment I gotta stay home and take care of Timo =P
It’s probably not a bad idea to stay home today actually because Ralph’s friends and I went go-karting the other night and I had a few big crashes and I got bruises on my back, my leg, I’m sore all over my arms and Ralph said I’m a nuisance to hug now haha ^///^
A-Z-N
Oops! Haven’t blogged for a week.
A few things have happened.
Ralph and I got our hair dyed and we look like anime characters now.
Well no - he looks like an anime character and I look AZN xD
Ralph, Naruto much?

Some before and afters.
I think we look better before - but y’know what? It doesn’t matter because it was a one off fun thing to do =) Hair grows.
It was such an impulsive thing we decided to do on the spot and it was awesome =P
Apart from my head being on FIRE - bleach BURNNNNSSS!!!!
Please hire me!
The whole job hunting thing is starting to get stressful now.
Ever since I quit the other job, I’ve noticed how most people don’t even reply to your job application.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret quitting the other job at all - but I am starting to worry at how my time here is slowly running out which means the longer it takes for me to get a job, the shorter the amount of time I will be able to work.
Since the door to door job, I’ve spoken to 2 other employers who basically gave me a polite ‘we’ll think about it but no thanks’ response because of my short time here.
I went to Parkmore the shopping centre near Ralph’s house today and gave out another 5 resumes and I lose count of how many online applications I send out everyday.
So just waiting waiting.
Job stuff aside, had a lovely churchy weekend, listened to some great talks about relationships by guest speakers Phillip and Holly Wagner from America, went to yumcha with the family, hanging out in the city, going to play pool with Ralph’s friends and just having a great time =)
Ralph is sick today so he didn’t go to work but I got to spend the whole day with him which is rare. Silly boy works so late everyday usually.

I quit!
So I had an interview on Monday with a group of 3.
I got a call within hours saying it all went fine and that I was to go back the next day for the training/orientation.
All sounds good right?
Not really. When I applied for the job, it was advertising a customer service position.
When we got there, it was for door to door sales/campaign for ACF (basically the Aussie version of Greenpeace).
I went to the training of course. Started at 10:30, finished at almost 8:30 at night.
(That was enough to put me off)
There was so much about the job I hated but this post would be too long if I listed them all.
Basically the jist is, I was employed for a day, I called in the next morning and told them that I quit. Go me.
So I’m job hunting again .. but so far so good.
I got another interview for tomorrow - just for a sales assistant position.
But what I’m really waiting for is an interview after July 1st for a Chinese immigration assistant position.
That one sounds like it could be the one (I hope!)
Yesterday I went to Ignite, which is Ralph’s church youth meeting and it was amazing.
Such a great church.
Been chilling with Ralph’s friends, going bowling, going for dinners, playing Dungeons & Dragons ahaha.
Playing with the doggies who I think are starting to get a bit attached to me =P
Looking forward to tonight seeing Transformers - yayy.
